For many, going to the salon for a new cut, color, or style can be as nerve wrecking as seeing a dentist. Especially if you have had a bad experience such as waiting months for a terrible cut to grow out. We at EBK Beauty take pride in spending time with our clients during their visit to assure the stylist knows exactly what the client wants and we are happy to take clients in for evaluations and consultations.
There are ways to make sure you and your stylist are on the same page and that is by following a few tips.
Feel free to bring in pictures of what you have in mind. Your stylist isn’t a mind reader and as good as you are in describing a particular color, style, look, length, or updo, communication can fail when it comes to describing what you desire. Therefore, bringing in one or two photos to help your stylist understand what you are looking for will be helpful.
Be prepared though, because as much as you may love the look on your favorite celebrity it may not translate well onto your frame, face shape, skin tone, or do well with your hair texture. It is the job of your stylist to tell you that what you want may not really give you the satisfaction you desire. They will however, be able to help determine what your favorite aspects of a style, cut, or color are and blend those into a unique option for you. For instance, if a style requires a specific hair texture that is different from yours, perhaps a sew-in weave of the needed hair texture will have you walking out of the salon looking just as you wished.
Consider a consultation, which EBK Beauty is always happy to schedule for you, because it will allow you and your stylist time to discuss options and choices. Then rather than making the change immediately, you can think about it and make sure your choice is the right one. Consultations are also a good time to allow your stylist to determine if you need a deep conditioning treatment to get your hair into the perfect shape to take color or handle a style.
Make an appointment for a small service so that you can have an experience with the beauty team before you go in for a major service or change. Schedule a shampoo and conditioning treatment before you decide to get a new color or a new cut. In other words, try a salon for a small service before you go in for a major change. This will allow you to determine if the salon is about offering quality service or getting you in the chair and out of the door in a hurry.
Another suggestion is to check out the social media accounts of your salon of choice. If they are constantly showing off their stylists rather than their accomplishments, you may need to think twice. Choose a salon that is constantly sharing pictures of their client’s services. You can also check comments from those clients on the sharing service such as Instagram or Twitter to determine if the clients were happy and got the service they expected.
We invite you to come to EBK Beauty, at either of our locations, we want to be your Jacksonville Beauty Choice.
