Quit! Quit sabotaging your own beauty possibilities! Make the most of your daily beauty routine by eliminating the things you shouldn’t be doing! Here is part one of two in the series. Get ready to eliminate these 5 bad habits from your beauty regimen:
#10 Don’t buy the wrong shampoo and conditioner. Sorry, but they aren’t created equal nor do they all do the same thing. Shampoos can make the difference in your hair looking thick and lustrous as well as feeling that way. Conditioners can extend how long your hair will grow before it breaks, whether it will frizz up next time the humidity increases, or if your style will be manageable as possible. Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner and one that serves the purpose of your styling needs.
#9 Don’t be loyal to your beauty brands. In life it can sometimes pay to be loyal. In the consumer industry it isn’t always so and that means you should be open to trying new or different brands. You could be missing out on a new product or ingredient that could make your dark spots fade quicker and more evenly or clear up your skin and keep it that way. Try new products and always ask sales clerks for samples or write companies and ask for them. Manufacturers and brands are READY to share their new products and are generous to gain new customers.
#8 Don’t use your hairbrush for longer than a year. Hairbrushes are one item that can long outlive other beauty items and tools. Your hairbrush can be the one thing you need to throw away long before you do. Don’t keep it “just in case” either. Toss it. Old brushes cause breakage, microscopic damage, and fail to live up to the possibilities of a new one.
#7 Don’t hang on to the sample makeup you have never worn. We all have those sample eye makeups and lipsticks that we got as a bonus when we purchased another beauty item. The color just wasn’t flattering and we never wore them but we’ve picked over them and pushed them aside for years. Throw them away. It’s clutter, they are old, you’ll never wear them, so throw them out. That way you won’t feel so guilty when you go to buy a new color you love and you remember the full makeup drawer at home. Instead, you will have ample room for all the great items you love, chose yourself, and will actually wear.
#6 Don’t keep your mascara past 3 months. Many experts will give you an extra 3 months and tell you that you can keep them for up to 6 months. Don’t do it. Mascara starts to dry out as soon as it is opened and you begin pushing that applicator into and out of the tube. Switch to a new one every 3 months and your lashes and look will benefit from your new found discipline.
